Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran Pays Homage to Hindu Idol

1 Cor. 10:20 - But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.

Deut. 32:17 - They sacrificed to devils and not to God: to gods whom they knew not: that were newly come up, whom their fathers worshiped not.

Ps 95:5 - For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens.

Jer. 10:20-21 - My tabernacle is laid waste, all my cords are broken: my children are gone out from me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
Because the pastors have done foolishly, and have not sought the Lord: therefore have they not understood, and all their flock is scattered.

Exod. 34:15-17 - Make no covenant with the men of those countries lest, when they have committed fornication with their gods, and have adored their idols, some one call thee to eat of the things sacrificed.
Neither shalt thou take of their daughters a wife for thy son, lest after they themselves have committed fornication, they make thy sons also to commit fornication with their gods.
Thou shalt not make to thyself any molten gods.

Wisd. 13:10 - But unhappy are they, and their hope is among the dead, who have called gods the works of the hands of men, gold and silver, the inventions of art, and the resemblances of beasts, or an unprofitable stone the work of an ancient hand.

St. Thomas Aquinas:
"The cause of idolatry is twofold: dispositive on the part of man; consummative on the part of the demons.

"Men were led to idolatry first by disordered affections, inasmuch as they bestowed divine honours upon someone whom they loved or venerated beyond measure. This cause is indicated in Wisdom 14:15: 'For a father being afflicted by bitter grief, made to himself the image of his son who was quickly taken away; and him who then had died as a man, he began now to worship as a god . . . ', and 14:21: 'Men serving either their affection or their king, gave the incommunicable name to stones and wood'.

"Second: By their natural love for artistic representations: uncultured men, seeing statues cunningly reproducing the figure of man, worshipped them as gods. Hence we read in Wisdom 13:11 sq., 'An artist, a carpenter has cut down a tree proper for his use in the wood . . . . . . and by the skill of his art fashioneth it and maketh it like the image of a man . . . . . and then maketh prayers to it, inquiring concerning his substance and his children or his marriage'.

"Third: By their ignorance of the true God: man, not considering the excellence of God, attributed divine worship to certain creatures excelling in beauty or virtue: Wisdom 13:1-2:' . . . . . neither by attending to the works have [men] acknowledged who was the workman, but have imagined either the fire, or the wind, or the swift air, or the circle of the stars, or the great water, or the sun and moon, to be the gods that rule the world'.

"The consummative cause of idolatry was the influence of the demons who offered themselves to the worship of erring men, giving answers from idols or doing things which to men seemed marvelous, whence the Psalmist says (Psalm 95:5): 'All the gods of the gentiles are devils'" (Summa II-II, Q. xciv, a. 4)

Pope Francis - Turning a Blind Eye to Baptize

http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1400120.htm

The couple, Ivan Scardia and Nicoletta Franco, both work for the Italian military police in the central Italian town of Grosseto.

However, while they are Catholic, they were married civilly and not in the church, which caused a slight "glitch" when they had to send the requested paperwork to the Vatican, Scardia said.

"But they called me back right away and this problem, too, was taken care of," he told the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

Scardia said they consider themselves to be believers and wanted their 7-month-old daughter to receive the sacrament of baptism.

He said they had not gotten married in the church because "we were in a hurry and there wasn't time to organize a church ceremony. Maybe we will get married in the church sometime later."

Did Pope Francis mention to them that they are living in concubinage and a state of mortal sin?

Sadly, one has reason to doubt he would have.
His response in the past, after all, has been a non-controversial, "Who am I to judge?"

All Sense of Modesty Forsaken...

Pope admires immorally dressed performer

In his first general audience of the year on January 8, 2014, Pope Francis admired circus performances. Among the performers, a young female juggler stood out, above. She was wearing a skin-colored tight leotard that revealed most of the contours of her body. For some unwary viewers she might appear nude, below first row.

Far from being upset over this breach of Catholic Morals in his presence, Francis euphorically applauded her act, second row, performed with other fellow-jugglers, as shown in this video.

He commented: "These people were great. Congratulations. I invite them, as they travel from city to city, to feel like messengers of joy and brotherhood in a society that needs these things so much." (news report here)

Obedience...the False Kind

The "Need" to Know All vs. Peace of Soul

source: www.sspx.org

Is there a real necessity to know everything? Do we have a right to know everything? Can constantly seeking info cause disquiet for our souls?
At the beginning of this new year, we re-offer here for the spiritual benefit of our readers this short piece originally published for the first Sunday of Advent in December 2012.

St. Thomas Aquinas

"Vice may show itself as an inordinateness in the craving and eagerness to learn the truth. This may be in four ways.
One way is when this eagerness withdraws a person from another pursuit, which is his bounden duty.
In another way, when one is eager to learn from an unlawful source.
The third way is when one seeks to learn the truth about creatures without reference to the due end, which is the knowledge of God.
A fourth way is inasmuch as one is eager to know that truth which lies above his knowledge; for thereby men easily fall into errors." (St. Thomas Aquinas, Ethicus)

We often criticize the entertainment world for turning away souls from their duties and especially from God. Chief among these distractions which ensnare souls are the continually-changing landscape of digital media (such as blogs, social networking tools, YouTube, apps, texting, Internet newsfeeds, etc.) which perhaps comprise today’s greatest means of distraction.

These technological means — with their temptations towards distraction and most especially towards that curiosity St. Thomas warned us about earlier — are often used in a way that undermine authority, whether in the family, business, city, state, or even religion.

This is usually the consequence of a modern day falsehood which we could call the “democratization of knowledge”. This common liberal error stems from the false ideology of democracy, that authority is “of the people and by the people”, rather than “there is no authority except from God.” (Rom. 13, 1) Through this falsehood, modern man believes he has the right to knowledge of all things and considers himself responsible for all decisions. Ultimately this democratic way of thinking lapses into deceptive pride and even practical atheism: because no longer having confidence or hope in God, one no longer considers oneself beholden to His Providence.

The mindset that I have a right to all knowledge regardless of duty of state or position in life, originates in the liberal perspective, and feeds itself from the tremendous amount of information circulating worldwide and at the dizzying speed of the Internet. But this attitude is motivated more by the spirit of envy and revenge (that is, a liberal sense of “justice”) than by the love of Truth. Thus this mentality seeks to free itself from any bonds of authority, while seeking to destroy any distinction amongst men — even daring to equate man to God. And so feeling threatened by any authority than himself, this person views any manifestation of external authority as an injustice to his individual will.

Ultimately from this modern spirit of an unbalanced desire for information and an insistence on a “right to know”, souls will be led away from Christ’s peace — a peace which worldly things cannot give. It will also imbue the mind to question and criticize everything and according to its own reasoning. Another more subtle effect of this false ideology is to focus blame on an individual —e.g., a “scapegoat complex” — when expectations (sometimes unreasonable) of “informational transparency” are not fulfilled.

Unfortunately, examples of such defects were witnessed amongst even traditionally-minded Catholics concerning recent events affecting the Society of St. Pius X — with the legitimate exercising of authority being the preferred target. But how could this occur with Catholics who adhere to the True Mass, the True Sacraments, and the True Faith?

Precisely because the underlying spirit of those disturbed was one of a lack of submission to authority, fed by an incessant “need” to know, and a “need” to be informed about all information, regardless of their state (e.g., non-SSPX members do not have a strict right to be kept informed about the internal affairs of the SSPX, which is a religious congregation).

The inability to obtain the information they “needed” and which they felt they had a “right” to, led to resentment and thence the scapegoating of persons (authority) from who they felt slighted by, through misunderstandings, buzz, rumors, suspicions, detractions, half-truths, and calumnies — and then fed upon by other disenchanted “I must know!” information-seekers.

We must beware of this diabolical tendency that perpetuates Lucifer’s “I will not serve”, which leads to a loathing of obedience and respect to authority, particularly when it does not yield to opinions, either of the world or from subordinates. Such a mentality is disastrous to the spiritual life — let alone Catholic; cue to the destruction wrought by Martin Luther and the Protestant revolution.

Those who adhere to such an attitude reveal a lack of fortitude and constancy — obsessed by security, they see danger everywhere, every time. Their prudence is frequently faulty in counsel, judgment and action. Justice is blinded by a great moral confusion. Concern for truth is more or less restricted to an abstract field — so long as that “truth” fits their pre-conceived notion. This in turn leads to practically adopting the error that the end justifies the means.

In the end, through the person’s ever-growing bitterness (which Archbishop Lefebvre specifically warned traditionalists about), the person develops an obsessive mind thereby losing his balance of temperance not only in his social life — but in the use of his time, devices and even creatures. The worst effect though is his terrible lack of trust in God and His grace which endangers the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity.

Archbishop Lefebvre once remarked that all of us in this modern age have been affected in some way or another by the errors of liberalism and thus must make a close examination of ourselves to see where. The “need” (nay, addiction) for information — continually and instantly — is just one practical aspect of liberal ideology that we can be prone to.

But with purified minds infused by the Catholic principles, we can continue to steadily advance in the way of perfection and sanctity to Heaven, where all things will ultimately be revealed.

Signs of Lukewarmness - Fr. Croiset (Spiritual Director for St. Margaret Mary)

Signs of Lukewarmness:
1.) Great negligence in spiritual exercises; prayer without attention, fervor or confidence.
2.) Confessing sins without amendment of life. Going to confession week after week after week for the same sins without taking any stronger means to avoid sin and amend one's life.
3.) Making holy communions without proper preparation and without fervor or fruit...going to communion every week and getting nowhere.
4.) Continual dissipation of spirit. This means we become engrossed in tons of different things and many different trifles which are not of any importance. Too many interests, too many worries, too many distractions.
5.) Perverse habit of doing ones actions without any interior spirit...of taking no pains to prevent passion, self-love or human respect.
6.) Sloth and not acquiring virtues proper to one's state (chastity, charity, etc.)
7.) Disgust for spiritual things, particular indifference to great virtue.

All of these things block the person from praying regularly.
A person who has great charity will have great zeal for prayer and will want to pray to escape all of these things.

Self-love especially is a great obstacle to prayer and to spiritual growth.

We must ask ourselves if our greatest love is ourselves or God. Do we seek comforts from God or from the world?

Lukewarmness is unfaithfulness to grace God offers us and is the reason why He will vomit out the lukewarm.
It is the biggest obstacle to growth of the interior life because it blocks prayer, especially mental prayer.

In order to overcome lukewarmness, we must:
1.) ASK God for the grace, especially to make our tepid souls fervent
2.) Pray the Act of Charity from the missal, pray it often
3.) Be disciplined. In every aspect, not just things spiritual. This is because our temporal life is intimately united to our spiritual life (just as the body is attached to the soul). We must be disciplined in our sleep habits (bedtime and rise time). We must be disciplined in our consumption of food and drink. We must be disciplined in our hygiene and our cleanliness/tidiness. We must be organized. If we find these things are repulsive to us or contrary to our natural disposition, we must war against that and work to correct these faults. A sloppy lifestyle is not a justifiable lifestyle. It is said that all of the saints lived very orderly lives, interiorly and exteriorly. We must strive to understand proper decorum.
4.) Pray for the grace to persevere in trials and activities which we find undesirable.
5.) Pray the Litany of Humility by Cardinal Merry del Val. A humble person will always find favor with God.
6.) Cultivate a devotion to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. Seek refuge therein and not in any insufficient creatures.
7.) Prostrate yourself at the foot of the cross, literally and mentally, and ask Jesus to nail your heart to his feet that you may realize you deserve to be nowhere else but at His feet and on the Cross with Him.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

The Disney Agenda...Promoting Today's Fashions

It never ceases to amaze me how just about everyone today is willing to allow their children to sit and be exposed to the Disney Agenda.

Beyond the fact that Walt Disney was a 33rd degree Freemason, one can more plainly see the various agendas being promoted in their animated films and how little girls today are so comfortable wearing next to nothing.

Their role models ("princesses") did it when they were watching them growing up!

See below how Disney was promoting these trends over the years...and consider the following:

1.) Would people have been okay with these clothes if the films were not animated but rather live action?

2.) Why is it okay for "pseudo-humans" (aka fairies, mermaids, etc.) to wear next to nothing? Why are mothers okay with that and with letting their girls watch that...or boys??

1950's
Alice (in Wonderland)

Cinderalla

Sleeping Beauty

Wendy (Peter Pan)
Tinker Bell (Peter Pan)

a.) WHY IS THIS TINKER BELL OUTFIT OKAY??

b.) The above looks to be quite modest by today's standards...but consider the constant emphasis of tight and tiny waists, amplifying curves, etc. This is a promotion of the corset and what would have then been the vain emphasis of the desirable female figure. Also, look at the suggestive cords across the v-cut black top on Sleeping Beauty...yes, she had another shirt underneath that...but it was laying the foundation for more to come...

1989+
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

Jasmine (Aladdin)

Megara (Hercules)

Pocahontas
Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
a.) Notice the sleeves/neckline is rolled down below the shoulders on Belle with slight cleavage now.
b.) Same cleavage and exposed neckline and shoulders on Megara.
c.) Can Jasmine's wardrobe even be considered clothing?
d.) Pocahontas...above the knees
e.) And the worst of all, and perhaps the biggest role model for little girls born from 1985+...Ariel from the Little Mermaid with her top all but falling out and her "fin" all but exposing what would normally be there.

This is evil...and yet how many people just love Disney and supporting Disney because of the nostalgia and "magic" it has in their lives.
