No Right, No Wrong, No Rules for me...I'm Free! (Frozen, Sherlock, Psych, Black Friday)

Dear Parents,

The time for considering Christmas gifts is upon us, especially with the hyper-marketed "national holiday" known as Black Friday coming at the end of this week.  We will be told we must shop & spend and we willingly heed the siren songs:  "It's Christmas time...so buy and spend!"   However, good Catholic parents must carefully, very carefully consider the gifts given at this sacred time and extrapolate to any time!  This is your duty. 

What are we allowing into our homes?  So often under the guise of the new, the latest, coolest or even the seemingly cute & innocent, lack of vigilance and common sense or weakness and human respect allow destructive if subtle influences into the sacred temple which is the Catholic home; a place meant to be where the Holy Family would find rest;  a pure and loving welcome.

 Does it offend God?  Does it facilitate our love of God and movement towards our ultimate goal, heaven?  Does it increase virtue and the grace in our soul... or not?  Here are the questions we must ask: the questions of nobility, of beauty and of goodness, the questions of the saints.   Do not make the worldling’s excuses your own:  “It’s only entertainment."  "It’s not that bad.” "Everyone has it"  Maybe insidious of all: "It's not a mortal sin!"  If those are sentences we utter, questions we ask, statements we make, a red flag should go up and go up very quickly.

No parent worthy of the name  would even remotely consider hiring a prostitute for their boy at Christmas or ever, God forbid!  And yet we allow that music, that entertainment, those things which fill their minds with impure illusions and  liberal ideas to penetrate and  infiltrate their souls.  We not only do nothing against them, but are the very cause of their entry!  Or we place into their hands gadgets which allow access to the worst of the worst, music and images, unsupervised access to to a whole world inimical to the Cross of Christ! 

Do you think shows like Psych or Sherlock to use two currently popular examples from our own families of which the list is unfortunately very long are innocuous or merely entertaining?  Or rather are they harmful to the spiritual well-being of our children?  The words found in this message's subject line above, "No right, no wrong, no rules for me..." come from a nice, little animated movie, one you may have already watched many times with your children, one which they can sing every line to every song...songs which are basically pop rock ( and thus counter authority, sanity & holiness )--Frozen!  

Oh, it's only one line, one song, one scene...don't be extreme, Father.  How cute, it's Disney!  Yet that is exactly how this garbage, the garbage of the Revolution can be dumped into a good, Catholic home, hidden by cute characters and catchy little tunes (  and by the way all the other families are watching & listening to them too ).  
I seriously  doubt Our Lord would agree that those "little" offenses affecting the souls of children and causing countless temptations and falls are acceptable trifles nor that those so-called "small" drops of poison are not de-sensitizing the souls of the innocent.  Rather they are  to be crushed, crushed with the vehemence of the true soldier of Christ.  "No right...no wrong?"  Very same sentiment/philosophy which justifies abortion, homosexual union, etc.  This is EXACTLY how we have come to accept these abominations, these sins crying to Heaven for vengeance as a nation, as a people....little by little, drop by drop, line by line, movie by movie, song by song!

  Remember the words of Our Savior:  "You are either with Me or against!"  "If your eye offends pluck it out!"   "Better that a millstone be tied about your neck than to scandalize a little one!!"

Take a good look at the first scene--the character setting scene--from Psych, considered "family" entertainment.  Is that not gravely offensive to Almighty God and potentially destructive to souls?  Does that in any way facilitate our love of God and movement towards heaven?  Could that possibly increase the grace of God in our souls? ... edify and fortify our boys striving with so much difficulty to acquire that glorious & angelic virtue of purity in this perverted world?  Is Sherlock  with its thread of homosexual allusions and tension throughout really proper for a Catholic living room?  Almost countless other examples could be used here of which too many are all too familiar.  Are we now so blind, that we simply cannot see?  Are we now so desensitized ourselves that we no longer perceive?  God forbid!!!  Let not fornication or impurity be even named among us, as becomes saints!

My dear parents these precious souls are in our care, they are your children;  NO, they are GOD'S children and we are their earthly custodians, having received this sacred charge to watch and form them in the image of the Only Begotten of the Eternal Father..."with Christ dead to sin and alive to grace."  This is SERIOUS business, not for the faint-hearted;  a sacred charge and wonderful responsibility  placed upon the shoulders of a man & his wife in Holy Matrimony.  All the graces needed to fulfill this office have been promised and will be bestowed by the Almighty...and a crown is prepared for those who persevere!  

PLEASE then be vigilant and careful, watch and pray.  Please think seriously from the perspective of the Cross of Christ, of our holy Faith, as to whether something is helpful or harmful to their souls, facilitates or hinders their acquisition of virtue and increase in grace.  The Devil is content with the long term destruction, he does not need to destroy today, destroy in one shot; he does not need the prostitute; rather he is content to poison a soul drop by drop, day by day.  Once the poison enters, it can NEVER be removed, it can only be dealt with, mortified, contained to some extent and then it is much more difficult and quite often never done.  There is so much rot out there today which we are forced to wade though,  we MUST ensure that we do not willingly or weakly invite any of it in nor allow it anywhere near our children as far as we are able...so help us God!

Be assured of my prayers and cooperation in this noble task of formation.  Please cooperate at home.

May the all-loving God of might and consolation ever fortify and bless your efforts.

Fraternal Charity in Traditional Catholicism (Fr. Eugene de Villeurbanne)

Wherever division finds a place, there anger, pride, and injustice appear.  “Traditionalists” who were once in agreement on the clear and essential truths of the Faith, now place their honor in raising “issues”, in being right on questions of remote importance for the daily life of the faithful.  The minds consider themselves “traditional”, but the hearts are not so anymore, if they ever were.  Fraternal charity is also one of the riches of Tradition.

There is a great danger in being restricted to a traditionalism of combat – in conceiving the truths of the Faith as an occasion for fighting, for blows and for victory; in seeing dogmatic theology as an arsenal of war, or even too exclusively as the means of enlightening the intelligence while forgetting the eyes of the heart which are thirsting for hope, eager to taste the treasures of glory contained in the heritage of Jesus Christ.  Great is the risk of adapting the truths of Jesus Christ and the members of Jesus Christ to one's own taste.  St. Paul taught us where that could lead.

Having the faithful assist at our traditional Masses is not an end in itself nor is faith in dogmatic truths.  What counts is faith which works by charity and leads to charity for God and to fraternal charity for neighbor.  Christian institutions, catechesis, and theology should not only lead souls to the gates of supernatural love; they should make them progress in the limitless domain of the depths and heights of the love of God, in the dulcor caritatis.  No one can be there if he is at discord with his brothers.  “For he that loveth not his brother, whom he seeth, how can he love God, Whom he seeth not?”  Let us listen to St. Paul when he tells us“For, whereas there is among you envying and contention, are you not carnal, and walk according to man?”  A “traditionalism” that has lost charity – is it still traditional?

In a stunning and breathtaking letter, the Most Rev. Michael Olson, the newly-consecrated bishop of the Fort Worth Diocese and the second-youngest bishop in the United States, has fully and totally banned the offering of the Traditional Latin Mass in the chapel of Fisher More College, where it has been offered for the last three years on a daily basis by chaplains all approved by his predecessor bishop according to the college. This blow comes after the students of the college raised $300,000 in about a week to keep the school open for the spring semester (see here)

Rorate has exclusively obtained -- through a source who has requested anonymity -- a copy of the letter sent last week by the bishop after a personal meeting with the college's president, Michael King. Even more striking, the letter from Bishop Olson states that he's doing this "for your own soul," addressing Mr. King, apparently saying in some twisted way the offering of the Mass in the Extraordinary Form 
is a danger to Mr.King's soul

When asked by Rorate for a response to the letter from Bishop Olson, the school declined to comment.

NB: The only option Bishop Olson offers to the students to assist at the Traditional Latin Mass is in a parish where it is offered only on Sundays, at 5:30 p.m. This parish in turn is the only place in the whole diocese where the TLM is now available under diocesan authority. 
Nothing in the morning on Sunday, nothing on Saturday, nothing during the week. Students who have traveled across the country to attend this school, surely due in part to its daily Traditional Mass and sacraments, should now simply have next to nothing, according to the bishop.

Rorate will be following this closely, and we not only permit, but urge other blogs and mainstream media to do the same. We will also be offering deeper analysis in the days and weeks to come. For now, some initial reactions:

1): We have already seen the clampdown, ordered by Pope Francis, on the Franciscans of the Immaculate (FI) and have covered it in depth. At least, with the FI, there were -- albeit ridiculous -- scenarios listed by Fr. Volpi about extremism in the order, giving them -- again, ridiculous -- reasons to ban the Traditional Mass, as if the Mass of the saints could cause negative extremism. However, in this letter, there are no scenarios like this -- it's just a complete ban on the Mass, a naked power grab by a young bishop who clearly has a lot to learn about the politics of abusing authority.Why not just ask them to offer the Novus Ordo along with the TLM? Not that they should have to, but he would have at least come off, to some, as a bit less heavy handed and somewhat more compassionate towards the students.We fully expect him to come up with some other "evidence" once he feels the heat this is sure to bring.

2): This is, along with the FI, another important test case, this time on the availability of the TLM in Catholic schools, already a severely under-served sector despite the best efforts of Pope Benedict and his Motu Proprio 
Summorum Pontificum.

3): This extremism, regrettably, involves a very young bishop (47) -- which just goes to show that younger prelates do not automatically represent a "biological solution" that will solve the problem of hierarchical opposition to Tradition or outright modernism. (This comes in the wake of the "example" given by the young and outspokenly modernist bishop Stephen Ackermann in Germany, with regards to sexual morality.)

4.): There are so many problems with Catholic higher education as presently available in hundreds of colleges and universities like Notre Dame and Georgetown, yet, what gets the sledgehammer from a bishop is one of the few loyal and orthodox colleges where the students simply want to live their faith and accept all the demands of that faith by the Church.
5.): We believe the outrage of this action will not only resonate with traditional Catholics, but conservative Catholics as well, who may not attend or even like the TLM but surely understand the direct wishes of Pope Benedict expressed in Summorum Pontificumregardless of whether schools were specifically named in the still-binding document. However, we fully expect some Catholics who purposely and poorly disguise themselves as orthodox to justify this case in regards to the action of Bishop Olson, and to dismiss the very obvious "Effect" of at least a perception of the new Pontificate that is taking root around the world and spreading rapidly among priests and prelates.

A dilemma: canonizing Pope John Paul II

If Pope John Paul II is declared a saint, false ecumenism will be canonized. How then should we view saints such as Edmund Campion and Fidelis of Sigmaringen, or others—uncanonized—who have upheld the True Faith in the face of adversity?

The dilemma presented by John Paul II’s canonization

In the January 2014 issue (no. 372) of Courrier de Rome, Fr. Jean-Michel Gleize, professor of ecclesiology at St. Pius X Seminary in Econe, published a study entitled “John Paul II: a new saint for the Church?” After recalling that a canonization is infallible, he asked, “Are the new canonizations binding on all Catholic faithful?” and then “Can John Paul II be canonized?” quoting the Polish pope’s statements to Lutherans, Anglicans, the Orthodox, Jews and Moslems, as well as his remarks on religious liberty.
The following is Fr. Gleize’s epilogue.
If John Paul II is a saint, his theology must be irreproachable, down to the smallest detail. Indeed, the virtue of faith at heroic levels implies a perfect docility to the entire spirit of the Magisterium, and not only to the letter of the teachings of infallible Magisterium and to the lowest common denominator of mandatory dogmas.
If John Paul II is truly a saint, the Catholic faithful must recognize that the Catholic Church and the Orthodox communities are sister churches, responsible together for safeguarding the one Church of God[1]. They must therefore reprove the example of Josaphat Kuncewicz, archbishop of Polotsk (1580–1623). Converted from Orthodoxy, he published a Defence of the unity of the Church in 1617, in which he reproached the Orthodox for breaking the unity of the Church of God, exciting the hatred of these schismatics who martyred him.
If John Paul II is truly a saint, the Catholic faithful must recognize the Anglicans as brothers and sisters in Christ and express this recognition by praying together[2]. They must also condemn the example of Edmund Campion (1540–1581), who refused to pray with the Anglican minister, at the time of his martyrdom.
If John Paul II is truly a saint, the Catholic faithful must hold that what divides Catholics and Protestants—that is, the reality of the holy and propitiatory Sacrifice of the Mass, the reality of the universal mediation of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, the reality of the Catholic priesthood, the reality of the primacy of jurisdiction of the Bishop of Rome—is minimal in comparison to that which unites them[3]. They must therefore condemn the example of the Capuchin Fidelis of Sigmaringen (1578–1622) who was martyred by the Protestant reformers, to whom he had been sent as a missionary and for whom he wrote a Disputatio against Protestant ministers, on the subject of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
If John Paul II is truly a saint, the Catholic faithful must recognize the value of the religious witness of the Jewish people[4]. They must then condemn the example of Pedro de Arbues (1440–1485), Grand Inquisitor of Aragon, who was martyred by Jews in hatred of the Catholic faith.
If John Paul II is truly a saint, the Catholic faithful must recognize that after the final resurrection, God will be satisfied with the Moslems and they will be satisfied with Him[5]. They must then condemn the example of the Capuchin Joseph of Leonessa (1556-1612) who worked without counting the cost in Constantinople among Christians reduced to slavery by the followers of Islam. His zeal caused him to be dragged before the sultan for insulting the Moslem religion and he spent three days hung from a set of gallows by a chain attached to hooks in one hand and one foot. Faithful Catholics should also deplore the example of St. Peter Mavimenus, who died in 715 after being tortured for three days for having insulted Mohammed and Islam.
If John Paul II is truly a saint, faithful Catholics must recognize that heads of state may not arrogate to themselves the right to prevent the public profession of a false religion[6]. They must therefore condemn the example of the French king Louis IX, who limited the public practice of non-Christian religions as much as he could.
However, Josaphat Kuncewicz was canonized in 1867 by Pius IX, and Pius XI dedicated an encyclical to him; the Church celebrates his feast on November 14th. Edmund Campion was canonized by Paul VI in 1970 and the Church honors him on December 1st. Fidelis of Sigmaringen was canonized in 1746 and Clement XIV designated him as the “protomartyr of the Propaganda” (of the Faith); his feast in the Church calendar is April 24th. Pedro de Arbues was canonized by Pius IX in 1867. Joseph of Leonessa was canonized in 1737 by Benedict XIV and his feast is celebrated in the Church on February 4th; Pius IX proclaimed him patron of the missions of Turkey. St. Peter Mavimenus, lastly, is honored in the Church on February 21. As for King St. Louis, his fairly well-known example is an ideal illustration of the teachings of St. Pius X, canonized as well. If John Paul II is truly a saint, all these saints were seriously mistaken and have given the whole Church not the example of authentic sanctity but the scandal of intolerance and fanaticism. It is impossible to avoid this dilemma.
The only way out is to draw the double conclusion that follows: Karol Wojtyla cannot be canonized and the act that would proclaim his sanctity in front of the Church could only be a false canonization.

Post-Conciliar Church "Esteems" Hindu?


"Paul standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are too superstitious." - Acts 17:22

The only reason I post this video is to demonstrate the nature of what Hindus believe.

One can certainly be sympathetic of them in the same way that St. Paul seemed to be as he preached to the pagan Athenians. Yet the Apostle went on to preach the one, true gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, the apostolic successors are more contented, as previously shown, with paying homage to false Hindu gods and idols than they are rejecting them and remaining convicted of the Truth (Jesus Christ).

Let us pray for these men and women, that authentically Catholic missionaries will reach them and bring hope to their lives...hope not necessarily of temporal glory but of a treasure which "neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal."

Cardinal Schönborn: "Pope Francis has already changed Church"

"It is fascinating to see how Pope Francis is encouraging, reviving and renewing the church. Our meeting with him was an excellent lesson on how to live the Gospel today," Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna said after a 90-minute audience with the pope during the Austrian bishops' "ad limina" visit to the Vatican in the last week of January.
The Austrian bishops took the results of the recent Vatican questionnaire to Rome with them. Responses showed that 95 percent of those who had filled out the questionnaire in Austria were in favor of allowing divorced and remarried Catholics to receive the sacraments.
>> Confirms that at least 95% of Austrians completing the survey do not understand Catholic morality. Sts. John Fisher and Thomas More did not lose their heads to Henry VIII for refusing to support his divorce and remarriage for no reason. It is not possible to approve divorce and remarriage.
“7 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife. 8 And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” (Mark 10, also Matthew 19)
“18 Every one that putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her that is put away from her husband, committeth adultery.” (Luke 16)
Annulments (recognition of an absence of a valid marriage in the first place) are another story. But it is clear from the 2000 year teaching Magisterium that once a man and a woman are validly joined in the sacrament of Holy Matrimony, and when that marriage is consummated, they are one flesh which cannot be divided, especially not by some secular tribunal.
“Til death do us part” they pledge in their vows.
“39 A woman is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband die, she is at liberty” (1 Corinthians 7)
So just because they may in the eyes of the state be divorced and remarried to another person, this does not mean they are fit to go receive Holy Communion…for they are living in a state of persistent and pertinacious adultery and fornication. This, obviously, means they are living outside of a state of sanctifying grace and therefore are entirely unfit for receiving the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“27 Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 11)
What is most striking and indeed both frightening and sorrowful is that it’s not just Austrians who are unfamiliar with infallible Church morality, it is also the Austrian priests, bishops and cardinals…AND THE POPE HIMSELF!
But it gets worse…
Francis spoke of his experiences in Latin America, where the situation of marriage and the family was, to a certain extent, "far more dramatic" than in Europe, Schönborn said. It is important to realize that today many couples live together without getting married and have children, then later marry in a registry office, with some opting for a church marriage, the pope explained. The church must take this way of life seriously and accompany the couples on their way, Francis underlined. His basic message was "Don't judge, but look closely and listen very carefully," Schönborn said.

Now cue the likes of neo-cons such as EWTN, Mark Shea, et al…or of the pseudo-trads like Michael Voris trying to defend the Pope's comments as taken out of context or not properly understood. No. They are not out of context. It is not a poor translation. This is, and I write this with the UTMOST inner sorrow, how our present Pope thinks and how our present Pope speaks. And Cardinal Schönborn thinks it’s just fantastic. So does Cardinal Dolan, Cardinal O’Malley, Cardinal Tauron…and Hindus, and Buddhists, and Jews, and liberals, and Time Magazine, and even atheists.
It is the man of the birth name Jorge Bergoglio to a “T.” He used the same exact language as underlined above in his book Conversations with Jorge Bergoglio speaking about priests who “fall in love.”
Question: “There are times when a priest does fall in love and must reassess his vocation and his life. Then he must go to the bishop and tell him, ‘I’ve made up my mind… I didn’t know I was going to feel something so beautiful… I truly love this woman’, and he asks to leave the priesthood. And what do you do in these cases?”
Answer (Bergoglio): “I stay with him; I accompany him on his spiritual journey. If he is sure of his decision, I even help him find work… We request what is called ‘dispensation,’ permission from Rome, and then he would be allowed to receive the sacrament of marriage.”
This ties in closely to his much publicized comments a few months back when questioned on an airplane about homosexuals when he responded, again as afore-underlined, “Who am I to judge?”
It goes on…
In several interviews shortly before leaving Vienna, Schönborn advocated a more rational, down-to-earth approach toward family relationships. "For the most part, the church approaches the [family] issue unhistorically," he said. "People have always lived together in various ways. And today, we in the church tacitly live with the fact that the majority of our young people, including those with close ties to the Catholic church, quite naturally live together. The simple fact is that the environment has changed."
>> Okay. This paragraph is preposterous on numerous levels. Cardinal Schönborn is first calling for a “more rational” approach toward family relationships. This implicitly means that, up until now, the Church has – according to him – been irrationally dealing with family relationships. How outrageous!
Second, he is CLEARLY spouting the very definition of Modernism by stating that  because times change and people live in new ways, the Church needs to recognize and respect that, even if it means people living together in sin.
“80. The Roman Pontiff can, and ought to, reconcile himself, and come to terms with progress, liberalism and modern civilization. – CONDEMNED” (Pope Pius IX, Syllabus of Errors, 1964)
Schönborn "in no way" wanted to advocate changing canon law but merely to show how difficult it was to bring the ideal family model into line with reality. "The decisive point is not to condemn the way most people actually live together, but to ask, 'How do we cope with failure?' " he said.
>> He doesn’t want to change canon law, because he knows he can’t do that. He just wants to turn a blind eye to it and to disregard it.
Also, again with the “don’t judge, don’t condemn” theology. Look, I understand being sensitive, patient and tender to those who are ignorant of truth and blind to eternal realities. But there is also a grave responsibility of those in positions of ecclesiastical authority to defend truth and to condemn, yes CONDEMN error.
“Let your apostolic zeal shine with benign charity. If it be necessary -- and it is everyone's duty -- to fight error and repel vice, the soul of the priest must be ever open to compassion. Error must be fought with all our might, but the brother who errs must be loved intensely and brought to salvation…he who to please men would gloss over their evil inclinations or be indulgent about their incorrect ways of thinking or acting, thereby prejudicing Christian teaching and integrity of morals, would be betraying his ministry
“It must be added that the priest who is the "salt of the earth" and "the light of the world" must labor mightily for the defense of the Faith by preaching the Gospel and confuting the doctrinal errors opposed to it which are disseminated today among the people by every possible means. But these errors cannot be efficaciously fought if the unassailable principles of Catholic philosophy and theology are not thoroughly known.” (Pope Pius XII, Menti Nostrae - Thoughts for the Clergy of the World, 1950)
Why, why is it that I, a 28 year old lay person, know this basic truth of the faith, but an entire country of ordained and consecrated men and the Sovereign Pontiff do not? They do know. But they are choosing to disobey, and they are “betraying their ministry” and solidifying themselves amongst the ranks of Judas as betrayers of Our Lord Jesus Christ.


The Austrian bishops also discussed with the pope the Austrian Priests' Initiative, which has called for the ordination of married men and women, and their "Call to Disobedience," Schönborn said. The pope advised them that the most important thing for bishops is always to be in close contact with their priests, the cardinal said.

And then take a moment to think. The trailer to the documentary of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre’s life asks the following question:
“How did this bishop, a former missionary in Gabon, Archbishop of Dakar, Apostolic Delegate for all of French-speaking Africa, Superior General of the Holy Ghost Fathers get to this point [branded as a ‘rebel’ and ‘excommunicated’]?”
And how is it that these 313 clergy in open revolt against the Church and against Almighty God do NOT find themselves even being discouraged from behaving this way!? The Pope is silent on the matter, and just says it’s important that the bishops be “close to their priests.”
Schönborn said he was convinced that far-reaching church reform was on the way, "but it will not be achieved through big words and programs but through people like Pope Francis." One could already see that the pope has become a role model, Schönborn said. "The atmosphere is changing and his behavior is making itself felt," he said. What impressed him most about the pope was his charisma. "You can feel his inner devotion to God from which his compassion, his warmth and his infectious sense of humor emanates," the cardinal said.

What Happens When You Aren't a Liberal Enough Pope?



Well, in the case of Pope John Paul I, you get assassinated.

In the case of Benedict XVI, you get publicly spurned by numerous German Bishops.
His own countrymen showing that they have zero respect for their spiritual head and, in fact, for the Petrine Office itself.

And now those same bishops are planning to ignore the Vatican altogether with respect to Communion to Remarried Divorcees.

They want to institute the New German Catholic Church...a 500 year follow-up to the Anglican revolt, ironically, on the same subject matter (divorce).

Anyone who believes the Society Bishops and Archbishop Lefebvre are the ones causing problems and division needs to dig a bit deeper to find out who is truly loyal to Rome and who is not.

Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran Pays Homage to Hindu Idol



1 Cor. 10:20 - But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.


Deut. 32:17 - They sacrificed to devils and not to God: to gods whom they knew not: that were newly come up, whom their fathers worshiped not.

Ps 95:5 - For all the gods of the Gentiles are devils: but the Lord made the heavens.

Jer. 10:20-21 - My tabernacle is laid waste, all my cords are broken: my children are gone out from me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
Because the pastors have done foolishly, and have not sought the Lord: therefore have they not understood, and all their flock is scattered.

Exod. 34:15-17 - Make no covenant with the men of those countries lest, when they have committed fornication with their gods, and have adored their idols, some one call thee to eat of the things sacrificed.

St. Thomas Aquinas:
"The cause of idolatry is twofold: dispositive on the part of man; consummative on the part of the demons.

"Men were led to idolatry first by disordered affections, inasmuch as they bestowed divine honours upon someone whom they loved or venerated beyond measure. This cause is indicated in Wisdom 14:15: 'For a father being afflicted by bitter grief, made to himself the image of his son who was quickly taken away; and him who then had died as a man, he began now to worship as a god . . . ', and 14:21: 'Men serving either their affection or their king, gave the incommunicable name to stones and wood'.

"Second: By their natural love for artistic representations: uncultured men, seeing statues cunningly reproducing the figure of man, worshipped them as gods. Hence we read in Wisdom 13:11 sq., 'An artist, a carpenter has cut down a tree proper for his use in the wood . . . . . . and by the skill of his art fashioneth it and maketh it like the image of a man . . . . . and then maketh prayers to it, inquiring concerning his substance and his children or his marriage'.

"Third: By their ignorance of the true God: man, not considering the excellence of God, attributed divine worship to certain creatures excelling in beauty or virtue: Wisdom 13:1-2:' . . . . . neither by attending to the works have [men] acknowledged who was the workman, but have imagined either the fire, or the wind, or the swift air, or the circle of the stars, or the great water, or the sun and moon, to be the gods that rule the world'.


"The consummative cause of idolatry was the influence of the demons who offered themselves to the worship of erring men, giving answers from idols or doing things which to men seemed marvelous, whence the Psalmist says (Psalm 95:5): 'All the gods of the gentiles are devils'" (Summa II-II, Q. xciv, a. 4)

Pope Francis - Turning a Blind Eye to Baptize

The couple, Ivan Scardia and Nicoletta Franco, both work for the Italian military police in the central Italian town of Grosseto.

However, while they are Catholic, they were married civilly and not in the church, which caused a slight "glitch" when they had to send the requested paperwork to the Vatican, Scardia said.

"But they called me back right away and this problem, too, was taken care of," he told the Italian daily Corriere della Sera.

Scardia said they consider themselves to be believers and wanted their 7-month-old daughter to receive the sacrament of baptism.

He said they had not gotten married in the church because "we were in a hurry and there wasn't time to organize a church ceremony. Maybe we will get married in the church sometime later."



Did Pope Francis mention to them that they are living in concubinage and a state of mortal sin?

Sadly, one has reason to doubt he would have.
His response in the past, after all, has been a non-controversial, "Who am I to judge?"

Pope admires immorally dressed performer

In his first general audience of the year on January 8, 2014, Pope Francis admired circus performances. Among the performers, a young female juggler stood out, above. She was wearing a skin-colored tight leotard that revealed most of the contours of her body. For some unwary viewers she might appear nude, below first row.

Far from being upset over this breach of Catholic Morals in his presence, Francis euphorically applauded her act, second row, performed with other fellow-jugglers, as shown in this video.

He commented: "These people were great. Congratulations. I invite them, as they travel from city to city, to feel like messengers of joy and brotherhood in a society that needs these things so much." (news report here)
